My property appraised for about $650,000 (paid $265,000 7 years ago) Plus I own a condo I rent out which appraised for $240,000 (paid $95,000 10 years ago). If I were to sell both properties, I could pay off a very large home in either of these states and at the same time step out of the fast lane for awhile. My wife and I are 37 and would like to slow down and smell the roses before we get to old. We just paid off all our cars cashing in some home equity and the feeling is fantastic.

Even though you will make a great return on the property you live in I hope you would have enough elsewhere to have a good time. Nowdays $500k is not that much. If you can all the better and good luck!

I'm really more of a driving (not racing) events kinda guy, as opposed to a club, go to meetings kind of guy. There was a driving event about 3 years ago up to the Sierra's that I was on, but they haven't had once since. Not really into going to Sears Point and Laguna Seca to schmooze in the BMW Car Corral. Not into listening to President Pat wax eloquent, and at length, at every meeting (Not to mention her 3-4 pictures in every issue of the club magazine). I'm sure she is a perfectly wonderful person - just not my cup of tea. But hey, that's just me....
