Re: I heard that could get addictive...

I don't have that much time to sit and play a game like that. I heard it was pretty realistic and addictive though.<br><img src="http://members.roadfly.org/7deep/7cloudyb&w2.jpg"height=315 width=560>

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

    really? programmer or artist?

I've always wanted to get into the gaming industry. I'm a musician and I used to compose music for lil indie games in MIDI before digital audio became the std in music.

nope. they\'re selling you \"info\" on how to defraud

companies by leading them to believe you are a massive distributor in search of product "samples" to establish whether you'd like to order 1000000 units or something.

at least that's what i heard.

It\'s probably a link to a matrix scam

I don't think it's the free sample scam that steve b pointed out because Sony doesn't really give out free samples. When you come across auctions where they sell info on getting many computers, computer peripherals, and other electronic stuff for free, then it's the free sample scam (If your interested in that kind of fraud, don't buy somebody else's info because what most people sell is a link to http://www.globalsources.com).

In this case it's probably just a link to one of many sites (like http://www.digetek.com/Play2.htm) where your money buys you into a matrix to receive your free Playstation when a certain number of other people have entered into the matrix. The way it works is that say 20 people have to sign up before another PS2 is send out. In other words, if you sign up first, you will get your PS2 after number 20 has signed up. If you number 100, you will receive it when 2000 people have signed up. If that doesn't sound too bad, think what happens when you sign up as number 100000. Then it will take 2000000 people signing up before you get yours. If you really start thinking about this scam, you will realize that no matter how many people sign up, only 1 in 25 will get a PS2. This is where the scam parts comes in. Not everyone will get their PS2 as they claim but only 4% of them will.

Sorry for the long rant but things like this really drive me nuts because a lot of people will get scammed out of money because the inventor of the scam is praying on them not to think it through enough before they plunk down the money. And no, I did not fall for it but investigated it when I saw the same kind of auctions on Ebay a few months ago.

    possible.. but i still think it\'s a \"sample\" fraud

The auction says 1 per household as if it's address dependent. Those matrix scams don't discriminate so long as you give them money. Even if Sony won't give a sample, distributors WILL. For example, Ingram Micro is a massive distributor for several tech companies including buy.com and other big names. Sometimes, the product you order online is simpled drop shipped from ingram micro directly.

Anyhow, these large scale distributors have interest in gaining business from retailers and online-retailers. I used to be in that business (no, not the fraud business!) and Ingram Micro frequently had "demo" products you could purchase at discounted prices as a "Not For Resale" product to demonstrate for your customers. I don't recall coming across free stuff, or never looked for it.. but my guess is this is what these people are trying to exploit.

Nevertheless, it's a waste of time and money to buy from these scammers. Not to mention the fact that they're probably giving you info on how to do something illegal.

Playstation sets w/games & controllers are only $220 at Costco... it's easily the better alternative... especially when we all so effortlessly dish out hundreds for mods! :)
