Seriously, all you can eat Steak and Seafood! :)
I go for the New York Strip, or the Shrimp and Lobster.

Ruth's Chris Steak House. It's a chain across the country, but they have the best steak IMO.

There are quite a few Italian joints too, I'll have to ask around to see what the 'best' one is.

    Shep -

If you want steak, don't go to Ruths Chris. Try an independent place like Gibson's, Gene and Georgetti's, or The Chop House. I don't know of any good italian places off the top of my head, but try the link below for ideas. It's a good site to find stuff do in the city and elsewhere. If you need anything else before or during your visit, let me know.

great link - thanks for the advice. we are staying at the hyatt on michigan - i have heard gibsons is good, there is a steak place at the hyatt, stetsons chop house i think but not highly rated by AAA (2 stars) so i figured i should look elsewhere. going to be freezing no doubt but i think i can handle 3 days of it. thanks for the tips - i will check around and get back to you if i have questions.

shep, I recommend Gibson\'s too. I\'ve only been

there twice, but both times the filet was excellent, some of the best I've had. Maybe, Manny's in Minneapolis is a little better...

    cheers,

I'm curious, what's wrong with Ruth's Chris? I've had a number of excellent dining experiences with those restaurants across the country. I've only been to the one in down town Chicago once (never been to he one on the NW Side), so maybe I got lucky? I admit that it was a bit pricy, but it really was the best steak.

I've been to Gibson’s too. Great choice! Maybe a better atmosphere? I forgot about them!

There\'s nothing wrong with Ruths Chris - -

but if he's looking for something unique to Chicago, one of the places I mentioned will fit the bill. I've been to RC before and the steaks are excellent, but Gibson's is a step above I think. I was at a GF's work part that was catered by the Gibson's by O'Hare and the food was spectacular.
