    Need fuel sending unit

I am looking for a good place to prchase a fuel sending unit for a 1999 740il.

I ran out of gas and my fuel guage still shows 1/8 th tank left. I wouldn't mind using a used part if I can save a little money...Maybe its not worth it.

I am also looking for a place to buy a small peice of molding. The car wash took a small 2 inch door molding off the rear door.

    Please advise.....Thanks

Some advice from the e39 board...

I was in a similar situation a while back. I'm not sure if it is the same deal for the 740, but its worth posting.

I thought I needed a fuel sending unit, when in fact all I needed was the siphon pump, (basically just a tube), that sucks gas from one side of the split gas tank to the the side that has the fuel pump on it.

Basically, my gas gauge was working perfectly, the gas just wasn't getting to the fuel pump. Try running the car down to around half a tank and then see if it starts to stumble.

Just thought I'd share that since the siphon pump was around $25, but the fuel sending units are quite a bit more expensive ~$180-200 EACH.
