Re: Austin Meet AND INTRODUCTION TO BOARD
Yes....I love Austin but live in Hell, McAllen.
I use to have Bimmers in the 80s (2002, 320, 528i, 528e (for elephant) and 535I).
Recently, I fell in love again. My baby is an 83 635 Euro. It is in pretty good shape and has been maintained. Over the next 6 months, I intend to "refresh" the car in a pleasant way. So far, I have concentrated on the interior cosmetics ...
1. refreshed the Recaro seats
2. Satellite radio
3. Two radar detectors (Bel 985 and Escort sr7)
4. Radio Shack 1000 channel trunking scanner.
(Yes, I want to avoid the cops)
5. Bought a Vericom 2000 computer to document my performance
6. New horns...one set at 138db and the air horn set at 140db...yes it is very loud.
This week, I will be completely redoing my exhaust system from the block back with BMP headers back to the Aeroturbine muffler. The Cat will live in my garage.
Next week, upgrading the brakes and to the Alpina 17" wheels from 16" Ronals...so if anyone is interested, let me know.
The following week, an upgraded intake system with a K&N with custom shielding to make sure it gets cold outside air, an electric supercharger (2PSI and 1800CFM) as an experiment. If I dont get what I want, then I will look at the turbo.
The following week, upgrade to electric fans and bypassing the engine driven fan.
AFter this, upgrading the entire ignition system.
I have an 85 M30 Euro engine coming in and I plan to stroke it and upgrade everything in it. THis step will take a number of months.
Along the way, inspect and replace suspension and frame.
The final step will be a complete Paint Job..the right way. Everything comes off the car including glass and gaskets. Sadly, these gaskets are VERY expensive...about $1200-1500. If anyone knows a really good source, let me know.
Budget: $15K (not including turbo) but most of the engine "monkey labor" will be performed by me being supervised by a Professional Restoration/Speed shop.
Goal: 500HP and handling that will keep up with anything.
