    anyone driving in these cold temps?

    my bmw doesnt have a block heater...soooo im not using it...havent even tried starting it...was wondering if anyone here is starting their bimmers...sans block heater?

    my block heater has gone bad....

    and i never bother replacing it cause i plan on not driving it anymore in winter.

    I have a block heater...but....

    I am driving my 1987 635 and I do have a block heater, but my new office does not yet have electricity to the parking lot. Soooo, -35 today and no plug in.....

    my 88 535i will start fine down to about -30 with out the block heater - it makes a nice loud groaning noise, but it always fires up.
    With a block heater helps, but it has to be plugged in for hours beforehand I find to make a big difference (like all night...).

    No problems,ever, near Montreal.

    No block heater and car is parked on the road. I do use regular gas from Dec to March.
