    Turbo setup Questions

If you were to install a Turbo in a E30
    Which
    1:Manifold would you use?
    a: complete tubing
b: Add-on Piece from the OEM Manifilds

    2:Which Turbo would you use?

3:Would you buy a ready built Kit? "at the right price"

1: If you can afford it, buy a manifold already made. If not, and you have fabrication and welding experience, build it. If not, the only solution is to pay someone to have it custom made, but it will cost as much, or almost, as a new one.

    2: On a 4 Cyl (M42-M44) a Garrett T3 .48 to .63 on turbine side and .60 on compressor side. For a 6 cyl, a T3-T4 hybrid.

3: If you can get a second hand kit made for your car at a good price, jump on it. Fabricating a kit from scratch is time consumming and always cost more thant what you originally planned. Ask me how I know. :-)

    Re: Turbo setup Questions

a proper manifold is the way to go.

as for the turbo itself, that depends on how much HP you want to make. Most here seem to way overshoot the needs of the engine. Under-utilizing the turbo just means more lag, not more power. so pick your compressor with care.
If you are going to make 300hp or less, then definately a T3. 350hp is the *grey area* for me. Big T3 or small T04 at that point. (really depending on the use of the car. city vs highway, etc...) 400hp and up is definately a T04 though.

for the kit, what is *the right price*??
