M3 exhaust and cold air intake
I am interested in changing out my current stock M3 exhaust and adding a cold air intake to my 2003 M3 coupe. I would be very interested in any comments, experiences (positive and negative) and product recommendations. I am new to this site and to the San Diego area. Does anyone know of a good BMW mechanic / tuner?

About the exhaust
I don't have an M3, but an 318iS. But the idea is generally the same: create less backpressure. What I did is the ultimate budget exhaust. I bought a free-flow universal cat, and two cherry-bomb dampers from JC Whitney. I then fabricated the pipes from PVC (home-depot) and had the pipes replicated by an exhaust-dude in steel pipes. Complete freeflow exhaust incl cat done for US$250,- Nice, eh?
The ECU of the M3 should cope with the reduced backpressure and it should give the odd extra HP. But don't expect miracles, I just did it because I bought the car without exhaust!
Don't know about the cold air intake, didn't get round to that, yet.
