    Will your insurance cover it?

If so, then go through your dealer and buy an OEM replacement.

If you want OEM, but you will have to pay...

I've been told the best prices can be found at Hendricks BMW (NC). Check the price to have them order, then ship to your location as opposed to a local dealership.

    Cheers!

Call your local glass dealers for a quote.

Generally replacement glass shouldn't be that expensive, as compared to OEM BMW replacement. Start calling for quotes, starting at your local dealership. Ask the service guys what local glass company does the replacement for them. Hopefully he will steer you in the right direction.

    Cheers!

my local body shop friend called

around when I did my Explorer and the quotes came in at 199 and 140. Went with 140 of course. Needless to say your BMW will be more.

    Check with SafeLite

They replaced the front windshield of my Z3 (No longer have the car) but not sure about the cost as it was replaced under insurance. Did a great job though.

faisal thanks,i\'m gonna look those guys up.

I do have to admit though, I'm so scaaared of the aftermath of the replacement. I did a search of that topic on the main e39 board. The woes and drama is scarry man. SO many complaints. I have to replace it any way, but the thoughts of a poor job resulting in wind noise and all that.... just ...

Well..If you decide to use them make sure of the

    following:

    1. The Glass is BMW OEM. There are three types of replacement glass. for $200.00 you get the cheap aftermarket, for $350.00 to $375.00 you get the OEM without the BMW Logo (Made by the same manufacturar) and for about $600.00 you get the additional BMW logo at the corner.

    2. Make sure when they take (break) the glass out they do not damage the rubber seal. the rubber seal is the most important factor of wind noise and rain sensing. Most of the time the Rubber seal can be reused. If this seal is not reused this can a bit costly.

    3. Ask them to put a little extra sealant between the car body and the windshield on the top side. This will ensure a good seal and good moisture blocking between the edge and the inside headliner.

Rather than they coming to me I took my car to their Capitol Heights Location. I forgot the name of the Tech who did the job but he actually sat down with me for 20 minutes and explained everything he was going to do and how. Plus he did it in a indoor facility.

Just thought I'd share my experience.

    Good luck dude.

Faisal, that was the most helpful info I\'ve ever

received.I agree on the issue of you going to them instead of otherwise. I'm gonna let whoever know my worry, and hopefully they'll understand.
    Cheers
