What\'s the Recommended path to Club Racing?

I've done a few HPDS and now have the addiction.

A couple of options but first you must be a bmwcca member... You have a few DE events under your belt. You should be at the top level or top run group. Will will need eventually need recommendations from your instructors. Then, Watch the roundel and the www.bmwccaclubracing.com web site for a race school. Take the school. There is usually one a year. You will do practice starts, passing, and some practice races. Intructors will ride with you and help you. There is a heck of a lot more going on in a race than in a DE event. If you do well you will be granted a rookie license

The altnernate route it to 1st get your SCCA regional license through a SCCA approved school. Typically 4 days and several $K. This will get you a rookie regional license from which you can then apply for a BMWCCA license. Check www.scca.com

The cheapest and simplest route is to do an SCCA "Super School," which lasts from Friday afternoon until Sunday afternoon. They teach you lines, passing procedure, flags, etc. You do a lot of practice getting down the lines, practice starts and finally finish with a sprint race against your classmates. Most people pass the school and are issued a novice permit. Then if you complete 2 regional races without pissing off the stewards you are signed off by the chief steward and are issued a regional racing license. If you complete four more regional races you will be issued a national license.
