I have a 2000 540i 6 speed and while I checking the vehicle over and changing all the fluids, I put my hands on the output shaft where it comes out of the rear of the transmission and connects to the drive shaft. I was checking for play and when I pushed up and down on the shaft, it had a little bit of play (.030-.050 of in inch). Not noticeable by eye, but you could feel some play. Is this normal in the design of this drivetrain, or should it be completely tight. If this is a problem, I want to fix it now rather than later. The car only has 38,000 miles. Thanks.
