I live in Clear Lake, the southeast part of Houston (closet to any kind of water). The BMW area would be Bay Oaks, PineBrook, Forest of Friendswood or Southshore Harbour. It probably will depend on where you will be working.

checkout out Memorial area, close to everything

including the Galleria and major freeways. properties also have good values in this area. zipcodes to start in are 77024 and 77042. memorial also extends out further, but i would stay closer to the zipcodes mentioned above. good luck!

    I live in Katy...

    Pros:
Best public school districts in the Houston area. Lot of house for the dollar. Nice people. No flooding problems - ever. Access to just about anything you need or want.

    Cons:
Katy Freeway (under major expansion and the worst in the city if you have to commute to town - will be the best in 5 years). Not a lot of mature trees (most every housing community is fairly new). The Woodlands is tucked in a national forest and loaded with big pine trees but still a nasty commute if you work in town. Like with any big city, if you live in the subs and work in town, you just grin and bear it. That's why I own an 8 :-) Memorial and other area closer to town will raise the price per square foot considerably and typically much older homes.

Don\'t know quite what you mean +

by a BMW neighborhood. If you mean a good, upscale part of town: BMW's would fit in niclely anywhere and you see them in all the areas listed below. Note of caution, in some of these areas a block or two one way or the other can put you inn a non-BMW neighborhood. Top 3 realtors in town for premium properties: Martha Turner, John Daugherty, Greenwood King. Also look up HAR (Houston Association of Realtors) website.

    Older established neighborhoods:

River Oaks- the Rolls Royce (megabucks, if you can swing it, go for it)
West University- the Volvo (lots of soccer moms, lots of money)
Southhampton- the Porsche (lots of MD's, lots of money)
Broadacres- the Maybach (megabucks, very small)
Tanglewood- the Lexus (rich older folk)
Indian Trails- the Bentley (megabucks, very small)
Memorial- the Audi (many families, big lots, big homes)

Very trendy, but less stable or consistent areas:

    the Heights- the Subaru
    Montrose- the Saab

    Re: Help with Houston area......

I grew up in Katy (west of houston) and now live in Sugar Land (southwest). Some parts of Katy are getting run down as it ages. There is still the old town atmosphere which is great and the people are great. Check out Cinco Ranch if you want Katy.

Woodlands is the complete opposite side of Houston (north). You probably want to figure out which side of town you want to live in so we can give you better details.

I love Sugar Land because it is pretty quick to get to the center of town....galleria....downtown....med center

Then he will need the assistance even more

My parents live in a three story house with a swimming pool (one of the best in New Mexico) and own several other houses as well including a ranch house.

    Is traffic a consideration?

If so, let us know where you will be working. Houston is very spread out, and if you have to work in one area but choose to live in certain other areas, you could be looking at an hour+ commute.
