What do you think it means

    don\'t thinks so...

because the deal Montezemolo made with Pitschreider is Quattroporte chassis for Audi aluminum construction knowhow...Plus for the FIAT group, Maserati represents a middle ground (well not quite middle) between Ferrari and ...FIAT. A sale would make little sense unless it's for an ungodly sum in cash, which VW is not in a position to offer.

    Hmmm

Maserati compliments the Ferrari dealers (USA) doesn't it?

VW already has Lamborghini, why would they want Maserati? certainly it can't stand alone, and sure won't be offered at a VW showroom.

Phaeton....N E hear how many have been sold in the USA? Europe?

Audi has only sold 1,200 A8's in 2004.

This doesn't make sense, except the twist on the Aluminum manufacturing insight, that is a valid reason for Maserati wanting to talk with VW/Audi.

    Enlighten me some more......

my guess is that Maserati is looking

to perhaps produce a car in the higher end of the BMW 5/Merc E segment. Having Audi's large volume aluminum chassis knowhow would be key.
VW wants to produce the same car so perhaps there could be a common platform
