Thread: warranty issues
05-19-2004 12:30 PM #1
My car 2000 M coupe is currently at Holtz BMW in Rochester and I am being told that because the car has a harness bar and some Dinan / BMW installed upgrades, the car must be raced and is in eligible for warranty considerations.
The oil pressure idiot light came on, I pulled it over and shut it down. Apparently the vehicle had an oil pump failure. The car may have run at low RPMS for a minute once the light came on and subsequently there is some minor damage to the engine.
Does anyone have any (serious) thoughts, comments or suggestions that would be of hlp to me.
BMW supports motorsports, club racing, drivers education, auto crossing and other motorsport related events. If so, then they are providing events that would knowingly place the partcipants ina situation that would void the warranties on the vehicles.
That makes no sense at all.

Ask them which sanctioning body it was raced
with. I'm not aware of one that allows racing w/ only a harness bar.<p align="center"><a href="http://www.doubledracing.net">

This is BS; I responded to you in another area >
but unless they can PROVE that the car was actually raced, the warranty is still in force.
If they give you crap, tell them you are contacting your attorney & the NY Atty. General (Spitzer REALLY dislikes car companies). I suspect you will get their attention then.
