Welcome a new comer!
I'm moving out tothe South Bay area to start a new job. Since real-estate is extremely expensive, I will not be able to purchase a home of my own right away. Does anyone here, know of a decent house to rent? I was looking the Pacifica area, but I am more than willing to consider a "short" commute if the place and the price is right.

Good luck..
Grimlok,
Welcome to the south bay where nothing is cheap at all. They have some of the highest prices in the bay area. Just look around and you will find something. If you want cheaper then you have to go north past the bridges on the east bay side. The commute to the south bay would kill you though.
Where are you from and what is your car? I'm in Lafayette.

Thanks!
I'm from the South East side of Chicago (you know, the Indiana Side :)
I've been commuting through Chicago traffic for 3 years, it's pretty much hell. I imagine that the bay can just as bad, and worse, since it all gets funneled across 3 bridges. Anyway, I drive an '02 M3 currently. I was checking into the East Bay area, but I'm concerned about it because I don't really know the lay of the land there. Are there "bad" areas? I just don't want to move into gang-land to save a little on rent...
Do you do SCCA events (autocross, track events, etc)? If so, how are they in the Bay area?

Sweet.
My home email is listed here
[email protected]
My Roadfly email is:
[email protected]
I list this because my home email can be stubborn sometimes. It's a friend’s server, and some days it takes me a week to get an email. It's kind of embarrassing when an email can take longer to arrive than a snail mail letter!

Wow, that\'s expensive.
We rent our old house (3/2ba) for $1,350/mo. That includes a gardener.

HandyWomanViv, you get what you paid for...
Heard somewhere that our high school district is top 5%in the nation.
Perfect SATs are common and the grade school state test scores are all 80-99 percentile.
Crime is almost zippo, mailboxes take a beating (literally).
And one day I will sell this sucker for a million.

But, houses cost more there, so rent will be more.
Your schools probably get more tax money, which inturn allows them to provide the BEST education possible. My sons\' high school is ranked the highest in our district. More of their grads go off to the best colleges vs the other high schools.

Not particularly..
Taxes always seem to be "re-allocated" so the way the cities in our district do it is by donations. Each city asks the residents for $$ every year and we cough it up, to the tune of $650k-$750k a year. There is also the parent help and fund raisers ect..

Where is your property located? I am in the market
I am in the market for a decent place (to rent) with a garage & 2 bedrooms. Since I am not making a fortune I can only afford so much a month for rent (I simply can't afford to buy, unless someone is an absolute wiz with money and can give me some pointers???). :)
I am going to be working in South San Francisco, it’s pretty expensive to live on the Peninsula, so I have been looking at the east bay area.

Sorry, I just saw your post.
My house is in the Sacramento area, plus it\'s already rented. If you were closer, I have something else you might want.
