Good Topic......
I was pondering this thought also on my way into work this morning. Who would be our likely drivers for 2005?
JV is not a strong runner in my mind.
Jensen Button, is he an option and is he available?
Jeff Gordon, Can anyone explain why Jeff and Jimmie are at just about all the F1 races lately as spectators for Williams? Is Frank looking at Jeff as a Marketing tool for new sponsors and American viewers?
Mark Webber, seems like a likely candidate. His style is similar to Ralf, confident and capable but not the eager hungry type like Montoya.
I can't think who else might be on the short list? I really doubt they would give a seat to someone who has never ran F1 before.

my vote: mark webber plus...
any of the top test drivers right now, alex wurz, marc gene, or anthony davidson. marc definitely has the chance to prove himself with ralf out for pretty much the rest of the season. but whatever the case, please no jv (probably for personal reasons...i was denied a table at his restaurant in montreal during the grand prix!)
i think frank is on a charge to attract more american money...something he said was important to formula 1 when he signed on budweiser. then there's the whole gordon/montoya trading paint thing speedvision put together last year. it was priceless seeing montoya act like he was interested in driving a stock car.

i would like to see tony stewart drive for william
that guy can drive and race almost anything with wheels on it. i think he could be in a similar situation to jeff gordon in 1998, if the teams wise up about an american in f1. he was irl championship, nascar championship, almost won the rolex 24 hour race. and he didnt win the rolex race because he couldnt drive the car with only 2 wheels working, he COULD drive it with 3 wheels though.
it's a demo. so guess what the details are.

Control his Temper????
Question is can Tony control his temper??
I can't see him enjoying the 18 race schedule and the whole Euro scene.
Tony would be a Bull in a Fine China dish store, knocking everything over.
IMO an American driver isn't the hope for F1 success in the states as long as IRL can't get people in the stands.
