    Autoexpress.co.uk caught 125i testing

They are calling it the M1 of the 1-series, but it will be badged as a 125i Sport. The article on the web says there are pics in the magazine. The actual M1 is still being reserved for something else, but the M2 will be based on the 2-series.

Well they are not paying total attention

BMW announced in a official statement last month that they will not be using the 2 or 4 series names but it will be 1 series coupe and 3 series coupe

Americans should warm up to such an idea...

The car really makes sense only with a 4cyl.Those who think there is a chance for a powerful BMW 6 cyl at a bargain price miss the point a little bit.Perhaps when the e90 goes upmarket they will offer a 125i 6cyl for say 28k.The current e46 compact in europe is priced like the 1er series, the 325ti compact top model is in germany offered for 30k euros, thats about 35k in US currency.

    Totally agree.

Not really sure where that 6cyl obsession is stemming from..

120i isn't exactly a rocket in terms of accelerati

on even though Bangle describes the 1 series as a "rocket."

0-62 in 8,7 sec is not bad.....

Thatīs 0-60 in close to 8 sec,a 325i with auto tranny is not really faster, most 3er series in US are sold as 325i automatics.
50-75 in 4gear is 8.7 sec,if thats not enough shift back in 3rd gear and you get it in below 7 secs,I doubt many 3liter automatic cars on sale in USA will be faster.Thereīs a little 2002 spirit needed here,if you want to impress your buddies in the gym with practically irrelevant 0-60 times or if you want to sit with your big [Oops!] in your heated massage seats, just flooring the gas pedal, its not the car for you. That doesnīt mean its slow, its just not a poser car.

    What statement?

I check about 15 auto web sites every single day and never saw a thing about that. In fact just last week one BMW offical was talking about the 2-series.

Is it on BMW's site hidden somewhere?
