A/C climate control quit today...

My A/C hadn't been cooling the way it should for some time, and I had noticed the A/C compressor clutch kicking on and off frequently (several times a minute.) It finally gave up all together the other day, and today the entire climate control unit is completely lifeless- no display or control at all, like a fuse has blown. I thought I had detected a mild "burned resistor" smell in the cabin right before it gave up. Anyone know what fuse to check, and what the original cause might have been?

how did you make out with your problem.
i have a different one-any ideas
my heat dual controls for heating are mixed up on my 97 750 il
one is hotter and one side is cooler than the settings and the defrost is hot all the time.
i am told to look for the heater valve or motorized controls for vents.
any one else have similar problems, know where to look or know of any service manuals to purchase
otherwise the 750 is great
