Re: Good Indie Shop Portland?
The Best place and it just so happens to be the least expensive in the area is Boyd Enterprises. At a rate of $60 an hour. Kevin Boyd the owner used to own BOYD Motorworks and does an excellent job. He has worked on all of our BMW's in Portland as all the other Indep. places here are rude and inexperienced. While he does not offer loaners. (I am not aware of any indep. place that does.) He is the best I think in the entire NW. He built a 2002 Turbo for Car and Driver back in the 70's and has more experience than many new Indep. places combined today.
His number is 503-266-3209.

Boyd bought out Bavarian Automotive from Gordon Miller and ran it out of business. Now he's not running his eponymous shop any more? Must be a better mechanic than businessman.
If a loaner is important, go to Pacific Motorworks. Mark Dikeos is the owner, he has a couple cars he loans out and he has a good, competent crew.
