Overall results were close, but 120i beat the Alfa and very slightly edged the A3.
In "driving fun" (grip, balance etc) and "steering" categories the 120i crushed the opposition with a rating of 95/100 (Alfa 75/100 and A3 80/100).
BMW and A3 accelerated fastest, the 147 trailed them 1 sec in 0-60. Alfa won the "economy" category and A3 ruled the interior and luggage space part.
End results: 120i 72%, A3 72%, Alfa 147 64%

Some may wonder why Merc-A is missing from "Hatch Elite" test..

But remember that many ppl would arque the Merc A is too minivan-like and actually competes with the "tall" hatchback-vans like Civic, 308 and Golf plus.
