    iPodders: Attention!

Now that I got my new toy, I need to accessorize. You know it's all about the accessories. I was looking for a case to preserve the gorgeous finish of the iPod. I do not like the silicon iPod condoms. They tear and catch on clothing. I don't want something bulky either. Has anyone seen in person or used this one?

It's called the Showcase and it's $33. It looks very cool; very iPod. They have been making a version for the 3rd gen iPods for some time and they are well regarded on the Internet. I guess it's kind of too late since I ordered one but I still want to know what people's experience has been and whether any of you iPod users have other suggestions.

let us know how it turns out

it looks cool. I've been thinking of getting one wired to my car, but I really don't want to give in and buy one.

Not seen that one. I use the belt clip +

...to attach it to the net on the right side of the centre console. This way I can still just grab it. Will get the Dension Ice-Link very soon and connect it to my HK Traffic Pro. Currently it's connected through the aux cable.<HR " COLOR="#FF0000" SIZE="4"><IMG SRC="http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid71/pf6202e356e98345cfcf645c40f59e961/fb8e85cf.jpg">

Q: How does this case protect the iPod screen?

I checked the website, but could not tell. One of the things that I like about the iSkin is the neat protective plastic(?) that fits over the iPod's screen.

The screen is covered by plastic.

The entire front is clear plastic with a cutout for the click wheel. That's one of the nice features is that the screen is protected. Here is a short review of the Showcase.

Here's a pic of the 3G version where you can see how the screen is protected.

For the iPodders using AUX input....

This looks like something you might want to look into in order to improve the sound performance....

Cut and pasted from the M5Board - post 458557 reply 9:

    --------------------------------------------------------------

To solve the problem of low volume using the auxiliary input:

    1) Increase the auxiliary input volume setting using the radio preset buttons...this makes a big difference as it appears that the default setting is the lowest volume level.

    2) Use a line level output from the auxiliary source NOT the headphone jack!! I purchased the adapter shown below that connects via the ipod's dock connector (line out) to a mini-jack socket. Then I used a six-foot long mini-to-mini cable to the aux input jack. Now I can pass the ipod back to the back seat if I want to! The volume control on the ipod will now be disabled, just use the car's volume control. I actually had my ipod playing LOUDER than my cd-changer source at the same volume level...I had to reduce my aux input volume preset from P6 to P4. Bass response also returned and was almost too much bass! Again, if you are using the headphone jack, you are missing out.

I'm totally happy now! The adapter I purchased looks like this:

    and it came from here:
    http://store.sik.com/merchant.mv?Sc...ct_Code=03-1004

and it cost $29.95. Belkin also has a car adapter that looks like it would work fine. Both units have the added bonus of being able to charge the ipod as well. I like the SiK unit since the line out adapter and charger can be seperated.

    Happy listening!!
