Bel-Red auto Rebuild and RnR in Bellevue
are probably the best shops around.... though they may charge a premium for their work. I have a friend that works at a shop in Redmond, but from what he's told me about the management, there's no way I'd send anyone there if they're looking for an honest shop.
it's a drive, but Haury's on Lake City Way held a BMW Tech session this summer. They're involved with BMWCCA so I'd suspect they're a more honest shop than most. From the tour it also seemed like a pretty nice shop... though not very big.
If you're looking for cheep, there's a place in Seattle.... hmm... Can't remember the name. Let me know if that's what you're looking for an I'll try to find it.

I agree, RnR in Bellevue
is likely the only place I'd send my E38 or E39 if they needed work.
For the E30 I used a less expensive shop in Lynnwood with an honest owner, if that's what you need instead.

I used to use RnR but never again, had a real bad
experience with them, they detailed my former M and left the wheel cleaner on too long and pitted all four wheels (at $650 per wheel), they denied all responsibility! So inspect the work and never let them detail you car.

The old production manager of RnR left and
bought Bel-Red auto-rebuild next door. That could be the reason you had such a bad experience with them. From what I've been told by a number of friends in the industry is that wherever that production manager is, that's where the best quality shop is.
Just an FYI. Bellevue Auto Rebuild is right next door to RnR as well and it looks like a very good shop, but it isn't anymore. Rich used to be the production manager there before he left to go to RnR. Bel-Red auto rebuild is the shop to the right of RnR if you're looking at the front of the shop.

The one I recommend is too far for the folks ...
down-under or upper? anyway is in Marysville "Charlie's State Avenue Collision Reapair" they work on Benz, Bmw etc., the great thing are the tools they have to work in your car they are all the latest tech. in the industry, i.e. did you know to pour bmw sealant you need a special bmw gun, well they have it.

Re: Looking for BMW body repair shop
For all that care, your best bet for body repairs is a shop were the owner is there at all times. Not the case with RnR( which was purchased 2 years ago by a new owner that has 2 shops. Bellevue as a whole has a number of OK shops.I own Havlick's in Seattle on capitol hill. We have been in business since 1921, and have a great reputation. In the LA area I would use either Valley Motor Center or Schiro's Collision Center.
Just for future information you should check out the website for Coyote Vision Group, these bodyshop owners tend to spend alot of time working on their craft and customer service skills!
