2800 Won't Start

Okay, I picked up my 1970 2800 yesterday and dove it more than 200 miles home. No problems. I took it around the block this morning and it stalled out on me after a few feet and now it won't start at all.

Every once in a while, when you try to start it, it will start but if I even think about touching the gas it will stall back out. The red "L" light is constantly on. It's getting fuel.

Distributer cap? Coil? Something else?

If you're getting a spark then it sounds like carburator/choke probs to me. Maybe someone here is familiar enough with your set up to provide further info. Good luck.

Take the air cleaner lid off and spray some starter fluid into both carbs and see if it starts. If it starts and then dies you have a fuel problem.
Is there gas in the tank? Check/replace the fuel filter if there is one installed in the fuel line.

If it doesn't start, you have an ignition problem. Replace the spark plugs, use Bosch or NGK. Next, replace points, condensor, distributor cap and rotor. Replace spark plug wires if they look like they have been there a long time. Check dwell and timing.

If the car was running well, you are much more likely to have an ignition problem than problem with carbs.

Okay, I'm new to carbs so I'll try to explain what it was. A piece of the secondary carb vacuum had worked itself off. When I popped the hood and really looked, it was right in my face. I just tightened it down and the car runs like a champ now.
