    BMW Bluetooth Compatible phones; What WORKS?

    Find a Compatible Handset - Not all Bluetooth phones will work!
    Unfortunately, not all Bluetooth compatible phones will work (partially or fully) with BMW's Bluetooth systems. As such, “Bluetooth” is an ambiguous term and insufficient to ensure compatibility. That is unfortunate, since "Bluetooth" is all that is typically included in the phone's description.

    My experience is a good example: my do-everything SonyEricsson P900 does not work with my Bluetooth-capable car (the SonyEricsson P900 lacks a "handsfree profile" required to work with the BMW implementation of integration of cell phone and car).Successful 6 Series Bluetoth retrofit, but phone incompatible

    Even if you have a "BT-compatible" phone with the BT "handsfree profile," there are other features that may or may not work properly. For example, the phone should automatically share its phone book with the car to enable a set of nice features: based on your phone's address book: Calling Name display and

    BMW Customer Assistance has a short list of compatible phones (SE T68i, SE T610, SE T630, Motorola V600). A more extensive compatibility list is here:

    Do you only want phones that are not on list?

    I have the v505 and it works with 05 545 in every way but I don't know about SMS (yet).

    Phone model: SE T608
    Car model: 2005 545i Sport
    Yes- ability to make/receive calls
    Yes- phone book automatically synches to car
    Yes- dial by name (without verbal training of system)
    Yes- calling name display (using adddress book)
    Yes- ability to send/receive SMS

    I was concerned about the t608, but I have Sprint so there was no choice.

    So far it has been great.

    Additional phone compatibility reports (Acura HFL)

    Here's a list of potentially compatible phones, from another resource (Acura Hands-Free Link discussion). Phones that weork with Acura's system are likely to work with BMW's because both apear to require exactly the same requirements: (a) Bluetooth, (b) Handsfree profile, and (c) Object Exchange.

    (a) Bluetooth + (b) Handsfree profile => ability to make/receive calls
    (c) Object Exchange => transfer of phone book from phone to car

    Phones that work with Acura HFL
    These phones implement the Handsfree BT profile and work as designed (including transfer of address book to car).

    * Sony Ericsson T610
    * Sony Ericsson T630
    * Nokia N-Gage
    * Nokia 3650

    Any luck with SMS?

    Any luck with SMS? Can you just read messages or also reply to them as well (although I assume that it is probably faster to reply with the cell phone keyboard than the iDrive).

    Re: Motorola RAZR V3 works - Did not try SMS

    Just got the V3, myself. It successfully paired with my E64 and I was able to make/receive calls, but the phonebook was not automatically downloaded. I have a few hundred entries, viewed within "Primary Contact" mode, in order to consolidate multiple numbers under a single name. In any case, even with a few hundred entries, I wouldn't expect the data transmission to take very long. How long did yours take to synchronize? Any advice?

    Thanks.
