Anyone see that E30 M3 car chase?
It was on a show, "Famous Chase" or something like that. The M3 was being chased by a police car with a corvette engine. The M3, I believe has a supercharge, and was being driven by some 15 year old kid.
Speeds were triple digits, mostly 100 until the kid floor it and you see this car take off...he hits speeds of 150 mph....damn...and then the bimmer breaks down.
It was a black E30 M3 ...looked like an 88-89...non Evo.

never heard of an s14 with a supercharger ...
and in that video the narrator states that its a 6 cylinder that does "0-60 in a little over 5 seconds"...HMM i wonder what m3 hes thinking about?????(E36 maybe) the e36 m3 is the m3 that most people who dont know about m3's think was the first and all e30 m3's are just 325's with a body kit........
I just thought it was funny that they were comparing the LT1 camaro cop car to the (badass f'kin S14 baby) and they didn't know it was a 4 cylinder... :)

bimmer break down??? you got to be joking me... if you watch closely, they just replay a previous part when he was braking...and the cut it off before he accel's again so that the americans can win the chase obviously...it was a camaro chase car and i highly doubt it could keep up with the m3...watch closely, they never did catch him

Re: Camaro z28 spun out and M3 was gone
No way a crown vic PI would catch up to that when the camaro took all their hopes away spining out stupid. Its a replay of the U turn the m3 made when the camaro almost hits its rear. Who slams the brakes after braking down and the caption is gone from the corner. And why play it in slow motion maybe because its to fast. Look at the scene where it supposedly brakes down and dont the surroundings look the same.

probably S50 or S52 transplant
that vid was cut, that's great that they don't have conclusive film on the story - he totally got away.
"5.7 second 0-60 with 240 HP" - either he didn't know what he was talking about (e36 statistical but it was an e30) or they actually caught him later and found a transplanted E36 M3 motor - excess of 150 mph, you all think that's practical with a (looked stock on the video) S14 (look at the low end acceleration - it's quick)
150mph like that would be a breeze with an E36 M3 motor transplanted into the little E30
definately not supercharged - you don't supercharge an S14
DON'T KNOCK THE M20 - a 325is will lay down a faster 1/4 mile than an M3. the S14 has no real torque, not like the I-6. ....unless fully race built and running at really high RPMs (valve flow advantage) the M20 and S14 are rather equally paired... the lighter S14 making the loaded E30 chasis closer to a 50/50 weight distribution - so in a LOADED E30 chasis, the S14 has the edge in the corners over M20 power.

The anouncer tried to sugar coat it but...
That kid smoked those American built police pursuit cars. Did youguys say that the police cars also had corvette engine and the police interceptor package? I love it. I don't advocate running from the police but if your going to do it, do it like that. All of my races back in the day that I won against American sports cars, I won because of the superior handling of my bimmer.T he handicap is evident when both cars jerk to the side and one stays on the road and the other cant deal with the weight transfer and goes sliding. That e30 was glued to the road. I think the only reason that it broke down was because of that slight bit of off roading that bimmers are not made for.

Re: Anyone see that E30 M3 car chase?
Guys, It is rare to met someone who actually knows about the E30 M3. When you say M3 the first car they think of is the E36. This is the reason why he would have stated the specs for the E36 rather than the M3. Just because it was a camaro on his [Oops!] means nothing to me. Maybe the cop was to chicken to pull next to him.
Bottom line is what the announcer said does not mean [Oops!] to me. Think about it. How would it have sounded if he was like: "This European hot rod is packing 195 HP" it would have made those Camaros look even worse than they already did.
