    DVD Player Safety Feature

Is there anyway to get around the Safety feature that will not allow you to watch a DVD and drive. I know you can leave the parking break on, but I dont have any desire to see the ill effects of doing that. I just think it is pointless to have a DVD player in there that you cant watch will driving. Thanks

    Re: DVD Player Safety Feature

I'd think twice about that. There was a recent car accident involving a SUV featuring "custom" DVD player in the center dash.

The SUV driver hit another vehicle and the occupant from the other car died at the scense. The SUV driver claimed that he was reaching over for something when he accidently crossed over the lane.

Everything was still being treated as an "accident" till the cops foudn a working version of DVD player in the center dash and accused the driver of watching it while he was driving. The accident turned into a "murder" case and it didn't look pretty. Better get a good lawyer if you want to watch movies while you drive...

    Re: DVD Player Safety Feature

Sory, you have something missing from your story. You cannot be blamed for wathing a DVD while driving if you don't admit to it, or there are no whitnesses to it. Also, the DVD still will not work if you drive with the parking break on. While the DVD is playing as you are stopped, push the secong to bottom right screen button and the seek right button at the same time, and thats it, drive away while risinking other drivers lives.

You know what, someone can just as easily jerk off and be more distracting than a DVD playing out of the corner of their eye.

Hows a construction crew in the center of a highway grab ya for 'distracting' ?

Have any of you actually thought that the driver is not going to watch it while driving (that would be stupid) but maybe the passengers would like this feature. You cannot keep idiots from being idiots that is just human nature.

    Re: DVD Player Safety Feature

This works in my 2004 SRX

Cadillac Nav System override, allows playing DVD and entering address while driving. To be use by passenger only! Do not do this while driving! Drive responsibly!

    1. Start Car.
    2. You see that little button with the note on it (lower left)? The one that leads you to the auto volume control and such? Push and hold that for a few seconds until a numeric pad comes up on the screen.
    3. Enter the code "1791" and push enter, which is located in the lower right hand corner.
    4. Now push the return button in the upper right hand corner.
    5. You are now in override mode, insert your DVD and start driving with your dvd playing.
    6. You can also enter street addr into nav while driving.
