Bavarian Specialties in King of Prussia + process
Bav Spec do race cars and a lot of club members cars - great people. Not the cheapest though.
Bavarian Specialties (610) 277-6037 - 340 E Church Rd, King Of Prussia, PA
Many of us have had good experiences with STS tire, they are all over PA and NJ. I've had great luck with the Norristown and Chalfont PA sites. Hell, some people have had great luck with CostCo since they have the latest/greatest equipment.
If going to a tire shop for the mount/balance, you need to let them know up front that you are [Oops!] about the wheels getting scratched. Tell them it is for a BMW with low profile tires. Give them the chance to defer or refer you to someone. Also, take a digital camera and take good closeup pics of each wheel right when you drop the car off - and let the service manager know this. Have him check out the wheels before his guys start on them and you both agree on their condition.
Yes it is [Oops!] BUT then if they get damaged by the wheel shop, you have proof - and the service manager will know you have proof so he will have to work with you to repair or replace them.
Too many people have slacked off and not followed the [Oops!] procedure then they cry like babies when the wheels get scratched and the service manager says not his fault, not his problem. They [Oops!], moan and threaten lawsuits but it is on them to prove the shop damaged the wheels.
Just my $0.02
John

Re: Bavarian Specialties in King of Prussia + process
Interesting, good advice. Yes, I can see how I would look like an idiot taking pictures, and they would be rather insulted, but better safe than sorry, I suppose.
Is Bav Specialties cheaper than the dealer, at least? I recall paying $100 or more at DeSimone in S. Jersey over the summer for a four wheel balance.
Thx for the reply.-Josh P.
