Re: Even if it does...
Don't know for sure, you might be looking at spacers and interference with the wheelwell when turning, even after rolling the fender lip. But you are definitly going to suffer ride quality. The E3 suspension was originally engineered to use tires with some sidewall. Plan on feeling every expansion strip, broken piece of pavement and rumble strip while moving.

you are not serious are you?
about "spoiling the car's sight?" those photos look like the E3 has BBS RS 17's! that's [Oops!] awesome!
i have 16" wheels on my E3 and will never go back to anything smaller. bill arnold has 17" Z3 wheels 17x8 & 17x9 on his E3 race car. granted, his car is a highly modified race car with E28 suspension and stuff, but just check out the photos i took. E3's look nice with bigger wheels.
damn, at least people are interested in E3's! just look at this E3 board. i have Hayden from "Downunder Again" telling me off, this was after i was going to assist him with his brake booster inquiry. whatever "mate."
if you really want to be in E3 land, go to www.seniorsix.org and become a member to the list.
check out my photos.

I ran 8x16 w/225/50-16 all around
I ran 8 x 16 Rial rims with 225/50-16's all around on my Bavaria. It had Korman springs, so it sat a bit lower. The Rials had just the right offset to fit up front with no strut interference, and I rolled the fender lip up also. I had about 1.5 degrees negative camber up front too, so that helped fender clearance.
