    Check Engine Soon

    I have a 2001 3.0 X5. This morning the check engine soon light came on. I called the dealer and they asked me to remove my fuel filler cap and tighten it again and then keep driving and asked me to report back in a few days.
    Is this OK or will I be causing any damage to the engine by continuing to drive with the Check Engine Soon on

    Any help on this matter apprecaietd.
