Why even put up a deposit?
I'd bet anything that when the cars are shipping, you'll be able to buy one at that time. Look at the Elise. It was one of the most oversold cars in 2004. A few weeks after they started coming in, people couldn't take the cars, and dealers now have unsold cars on their lots.

I'd have to agree.....
I know the vette engine is a tried-and-true pushrod V8, but I will NEVER buy a first year production car....
the markup and deposits are an insult..
and although you will have a factory warranty, it's gonna be annoying if your car is in the shop all the time - maybe I'm just scurrred after hearing the E46 M3 nightmares.
Not to be a killjoy....I am sure V-boy knows what he's doing.

True enough.. As long as the dep is refundable
my aim was simply to assure that I can get a spot in line... I won't actually buy at release but it protects me in the event the car does so well and the waiting list gets up to years...
The M3 I had a deposit on for 16 months and let people pass me so that I can time the buy in the 2nd year of production and right at the begining of spring (convertible)....
I'll prob do the same with this IF they'll take a smaller deposit and I'll take delivery in Mid 06' rather than this fall when they are expected...
Reason being.. I'm planning to take 6-8 months off work to travel and backpack around the world...
We'll see though.. it's just a deposit.. a refundable one...

Go to a different dealer
The first dealer I went to wanted 10K over sticker...right...didnt even get into what they would want for a deposit. So I went to a different dealer and they told me they would give to me at MSRP and to basically name my own amt for the deposit. I offered $1K and they gladly accepted.

Zora C8 Corvette
Yup, I have to agree. I personally am interested in one of the new C8 Zoras but I am scared to death about all the new technology in it.
I'm going to wait until the first year of production is finished and then buy mine. (Can't wait to see what the payments are going on this car, yikes.)Reply With Quote 172.68.54.105

Can't wait to see what the deposit is going to be on a Zora Corvette
Yup, I have to agree. I personally am interested in one of the new C8 Zoras but I am scared to death about all the new technology in it. (Its the first mid-engine corvette!)
