Back from Ca/Dealer. Demo just arrived this

Horrible traffic on the way home. Since the dealer is only a few blocks from the house, couldn't wait to check it out.Quick 1st impressions:
The lines are imho gorgeous in person. It will definitely draw attention. Could be a good or bad thing.
The car is quite roomy after getting under the radically low slung roof. Could be quite a sight watching someone tall getting in the back. I like the "bucket seats" in the rear with console. Some may shy away since it only seats 4.
Was thinking of ordering AMG wheels but imho think the stock wheels are a nice match and should be easy to clean.:-)
Salesman wasn't in so no test driving tonight and no brochures yet. :-(

    Re: You're welcome.

Everything is subjective The 645 is out here for a few reasons. I just couldn't get past the trunk of the 645 and I absolutely hate I-drive. The rear seat is almost useless but if you don't plan on using it, who cares? Everyone's views and tastes are different but the decklid just seems like an eyesore to me, like the trunk was added on with no design direction. The car does looks great and downright mean from other angles(unless you are looking at a Hartge version)

Not good at describing test drives so it's best to go have fun yourself and find a dealer that will let you do more than just take them around the block. The 645i is an excellent performing car and has the edge in the excitement dept but the CLS is no slouch. The CLS rear seat is actually roomy once you get under the roof and your less than 6'5". Lots of room upfront. The trunk has a lot of space. I wish the steering wheel was a little thicker(love my sport wheel on the E39) and wish it would have been a 55AMG :-) Other than that it was fun to drive and a unique automobile in a good way. It commands a lot of attention and should be the right car for us. Have fun with whatever you choose.

As usual, you're right on target...

I saw a champagne 645Ci convertible approaching me yesterday with its top down in the sun, and the car was undeniably attractive. I looked at it in my rearview mirror as it passed and felt that familiar "Bangle Cringe" on my face when I saw that horrid trunk. It's truly unfortunate, because most of the car is beautiful. I could even overlook I-Drive on that one, but not with an _*** like that for $90K. The CLS is pretty incredible in person and satisfies all of my needs.

I like it but I can't get over the wood trim.

Anyone know what kind of trim options are going to be availabe on the CLS55?

Are you talking about the choices or lack of

I like the change of no wood trim on the doors. Going with Ash interior and probably hi gloss wood. Wish they had a gray wood trim choice like what is found in the E60. With 1st year model, I guess we can't expect a lot of choices.

Had the Birdseye in my '03 E55...

That indeed would be my ideal trim for me.
