With regard to repair facilities Valley Eurotech is excellent in Abbotsford but for shops in and around Vancouver try asking here:

My personal view on early BMW's (to '95) is that if you must use BMW repair facilities you also must have deep pockets. If you are not mechanically inclined or don't have deep pockets maybe a CSi isn't the best choice. Indy's charge $75 to $100 per hour and BMW dealers go well beyond that. Repair facilities not familiar with BMW tend to do more damage than good.
If you are mechanically inclined but unfamiliar with the 6 Roadfly and other online resources are an excellent source of information to keep you on top of all the details. IMO, the BMW is second only to M-B in ease of repair by the DIY mechanic.
Repairs can become overwhelming especially if you wind up with a poorly maintained car.
