2004 745i in the shop again

    Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone have the same problem. My mom's 745i went back for service again. That's two straight week for the same problem. The navigation window says the transmission is shifting to P when the engine is switched off. Please see your BMW service center. Last week, they told us it is software issue so they reload the software. We got it back in 2 days. Now they are replacing our key. They say it will take two week this time. I never have any major problem with my 330ci and have already ordered a 2005 M3. I hope this will not change me view of BMW.

Probably miss-diagnosis of problem on dealers part

Try another dealer if they cant fix it this time

They need to replace the battery

The transmission is the most sensitive to voltage problems, ask them if you have fault code 51AC stored in the trans, if so, they need to replace the battery, it is getting weak. It wont show any signs but tell them to go into the power module and check the charge status history of the battery, I'll place a bet it is between 50%-60% over a 6 day period, it isn't charging back up all the way.
