Headlight part
Assembled masses: this weekend I will be making about a dozen headlight adjuster balljoint collars that another RF poster has asked about. He wants six of them (3 for each headlight) and I was wondering whether anyone else has an interest. The cost is in the range of $4-5 each and I have added a pic of the part I am referring to for reference. Note that this part is NOT included in the adjuster kit from the dealer and in my experience often breaks. I also have no objection to anyone borrowing one and making your own or improving on the design.
The collar can be seen below as the copper cap in the second picture below and in use captures (with 4 set screws) part number 4 on the first picture.
I hope this is not a violation of Board rules, its just a service, covering costs only and there is no competing offeror.

Re: Headlight part
Jon,
This is to all that will have to repair there headlights becauce the dealer WILL NOT! I've taken my headlights apart and I've gotten the BMW headlight replacement/rebuilt kit from BMW and the "REAL" problem with my headlight is the part that you have made. In my case the problem with "adjustment" of my headlight is this "socket"....NOT the adjustment wheel. Jon, thanks for making this socket. If any of ya'll have heallights that 'flop'/don't open enought' this will be the FIX.
Can't wait until I get these and get my lights RIGHT!!!

Re: Headlight part
I would like info on this part. Just 2 weeks ago I found two of these broken. As a temporary fix I wrapped two pieces of wire around the screw and then threaded the four ends through the white piece that holds the ball joint. Mine is a 95 and already two of these parts have broken apart, both on the bottom adjuster.Eric S.

Re: Are these still available and...
Greg: Here is a shot of the "assembly" showing the adjuster wheel (vertical in this case), the slider assembly, and the broken plastic collar.
Here is the copper replacement collar in place:
Also, here is the picture of the OEM adjuster wheel kit. I understand that dealers can now order them but if you are unsuccessful, let me know as I have a half dozen extras. Note that the oem kit does not come with the replacement collar, which is why I started making them, so that you would not have to go out and spend $350 for a new lens assembly.
.
I will send you an email on the details.
